I was speaking with a dear friend the other day about a job a thought I really wanted but I hadn’t received a call for an interview. She said, “What’s meant to be won’t pass you by.” This simple, yet profound statement snapped me back into the fact that I’m right where I need to be now. This is especially true when we think we’re missing out on some opportunity or are fearful that we’re not making progress in our careers or other areas. I believe there are truly no coincidences. What we need to experience, learn and teach to complete our journey home will appear in perfect timing. Our lives evolve like an educational program. As we become ready for the next series of lessons, we attract them and either eagerly or reluctantly respond and react to them. We don’t have to search in vain for the next assignment; it will capture our attention. Deciding to be on a spiritual path takes courage and commitment to follow the road less traveled. Let’s agree that miracles are no more than simple shifts in how we perceive our lives, other people and the myriad of situations that engage us. With this tool, it’s possible to appreciate every moment of the day.
There will be painful and aimless times. Most people agree that pain has been their greatest motivator for change. We seek and stay open to receive internal and external guidance even from strangers. In our times of blindness, we know we’re not alone. We listen for the promptings from our spirit within, which is always connected to the Highest Source in the Universe, and we’re steered toward our good. We become alert to the signs and signals of the world around us. We surrender our “if only…” agendas for happiness and find peace in our current circumstances. When we snap out of our victim-hood and martyrdom we allow goodness to flow through us and become open to receive the good from any and all sources at any and all moments. We smile and enjoy its many disguised and varied forms.
This prompts us to accept, embrace and have faith in divine timing. None of this is easy because it goes against the very nature and default settings in our brains. It’s difficult to surrender control of anything let alone the tempo of our unfolding good. Staying in states of anxiety and urgency won’t allow us to experience our life’s pace as it unfolds in perfect timing. Can we release deadlines, agendas and striving and let God set the tone and schedule for our day? When we can, we’ll usually find ourselves in the right place at the right time, open and available to opportunities that are revealed. It helps to repeat mantras like, “Today I’m eager and patient to receive God’s gifts of love, friendship, creativity and abundance. I trust that my good is coming to me in perfect timing.” We become outlets for the energy of the Universe to promote change and growth. As we expand and extend our goals and desires, our energy and stamina expands to encompass them. We respond to life with security, spontaneity and delight by enjoying the day we’re given as we eagerly anticipate the future.
The face of life is always changing. We stay open. No person, event, situation or misfortune can block the flow of good to us. “Julia Cameron in Heart Steps says, “We invite actualizing grace to enter and act in all of our affairs alchemizing difficulty into opportunity.” Let’s continue to choose, to believe and expect the emergence of the best.
