“The truth will set us free.” We love that saying, but what does it really mean in a world full of illusions? Have we ever felt like a “yo-yo?” The person playing us might be our boss, spouse, parent, or friend. When we’re in their palm, we feel safe and warm. Then, without warning we’re flying toward the hard pavement being jerked by the string that ties us. As we shift our reliance from external authority to internal truth, we cut the cord that binds us. Our truth comes from our spirit within. There is no greater purpose in life than to live in the highest awareness of truth. Living our truth has to bring more good to our lives. Our heart is the organ of truth, not our brain. We feel and sense truth more than we think it. When we have a love affair with truth, the storehouse of Universal Wisdom opens to us.
There are no limitations in truth. All great saints and prophets taught that there are many paths, but there is only One Truth. The truth is always present, always available, and always free. If it’s been hard to accept the idea of God, then pursue truth. Lessons of truth are lessons of God. The truth cannot be bought or sold, it can only be lived. There are no secrets in the truth. The mark of those who’ve discovered the truth is their eagerness to share it. Their joys increase through sharing. People with the courage to live their truth are the foundation of One Human Family.
Truth is always healing and always simple. The more complex we make it; the further we drive ourselves away from it. Truth doesn’t care what name we call it. Our planet unfolds from the genetic blueprint of truth. Words may point the way to the truth, but our actions serve it. We live in an addictive society. Addiction is a disease of denial and D-E-N-I-A-L is an acronym for “Don’t Even Notice I Am Lying.” If we don’t notice we’re lying, how can we get honest with ourselves? Addiction does not only manifest with drugs and alcohol. It’s the symptom of trying to fill the hole in our soul where truth resides. It’s only when we find the courage to stop and take a good honest look at ourselves, that we are free of whatever we’re pursuing that takes us farther away from our truth.
It’s like being the first person on the dance floor in highschool. We’re so afraid of what others will think or how we’ll look that we hold ourselves back from having the courage to do something that’s never been done. They say there’s nothing new to discover and yet we all enjoy movies or books with similar themes that are presented in a new way. The secret to success is to find a unique way to say or do something that’s already been done. Let’s invite ourselves to start today – remove our masks and expose our truth. Let’s honor the truth of our being rather than act like puppets pulled by the strings of someone else’s life.
When we believe in our truth, the ideas born from it open the door to our infinite potential. Let truth prevail! Please write to Dr. Sandy Islands at sandyislands@hawaii.rr.com
